Video transcript and discussion about healthy living
Neily: | Okay, what are the five ingredients? Give us the secret! |
Chere: | The first secret I believe, is that you have to have purpose. That’s identifying what your gifts are, what you’re passionate about. It’s like, what gives you joy to get out of bed in the morning? The happiest people really have purpose, because they know how they’re going to make a difference in their lives and everybody else’s. |
Neily: | Great, okay so purpose is one. |
Chere: | Once you have purpose, then you can have the second ingredient, which is energy. I always ask my clients, how much energy do you have, on a scale of 1 to 10? One you don’t have any, ten you have a lot. They always only relate it to physical energy, but that is only the quantity of energy. ![]() You know, and there is also physical energy. And when you have that, then you can have the third ingredient, which I believe, is happiness. And happiness is liking who you are, what you do and how you do it. Happy people are successful, yes. |
Neily: | And successful people aren’t necessarily happy. Yes. So we’ve got purpose, energy and happiness. Number four? |
Chere: | I really believe that you have to be happy before you can have health. And I believe that health is hope and hope is everything. Of course it’s not just about moving our body and eating, but it’s also your spirit. And a lot of times what really affects peoples’ health is that their spirit doesn’t match their job. So kind of looking at that part of health, that mental health too—that’s really missing sometimes. |
Neily: | So that’s four, and number five? |
Chere: | If you have those four, then you can have number five—balance. And everybody has their own definition of balance. For some people it’s, “oh, my do list is so giant”. For other people, it’s “oh my gosh I have dishes in my sink”. And unless you’ve consciously made the decision to be totally extraordinary, totally happy and totally healthy—you’ve unconsciously made the decision to be average, unhealthy and unhappy. |
Neily: | Wow, that’s really awesome information Chere. So the five ingredients for healthy living are—purpose, energy, happiness, health and balance. Wonderful, and if we have those, we will be as happy as you. Thank you so much, Chere! Again, Chere Bork, available at http://ChereBork.com. |
